HCUSA & Social Media

It seems that everyone these days is jumping on board the social media craze. HealthCheckUSA is no exception, We are proud to launch a number of outlets to better communicate with you, our loyal community. Using Facebook, and Our blog, we will keep you updated as well as provide a forum for you to communicate with us and with each other.

It humbles me to know that over 60% of our customers who visit us are repeat customers. Why do we have such a high repeat customer rate? Primarily, I’d like to say it is because we provide an invaluable service to consumers, enabling access to critical information about themselves in a convenient and affordable manner. Our customers are ones who recognize the importance of having regular blood testing and cataloging their results to monitor progress. In addition, however, the repeat customer rate is a tribute to the connection we have with our community. Over the years we have done everything possible to work as a team with our community, to listen to your test requests and other needs, and modify our model accordingly. Our perpetual yearning to improve ourselves makes us different, and I’d like to say relevant, to the many people who use us.

Taking the next step to create a strong presence in social media will ensure that we are perpetually communicating with you, our community. We want to understand your current needs and how we can best serve you at all times. We aim to keep you up to date with our latest test offerings and services so you can best utilize them to take charge of your own health!

We would be honored if you would follow us on Facebook, and/or Our Blog. As Director of HealthCheckUSA, I pledge to personally use these outlets to communicate with you directly, listen to you, and to address your needs. I post regular blogs of my thoughts not only on what we are doing day to day but broader thoughts on developments in our niche industry from a macro perspective. These social tools will remain transparent so you can communicate directly with us and each other about your experiences. We hope this will be another step to becoming even more in tune with what you, our community, needs us to be.

Thanks in advance and we look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Holt Vaughan

1. Thyroid Function Blood Testing Panel 2

The Thyroid Function Blood Profile with TSH, T3 and T4 Free is a group of blood tests that includes Free T3, Free T4 and TSH that are often ordered together to help evaluate thyroid gland function and to help diagnose thyroid disorders. The thyroid tests included in a thyroid profile measure the amount of thyroid hormones in your blood. These hormones are chemical substances that travel through the bloodstream and control or regulate your body’s metabolism—how it functions and uses energy.

We recommend a thyroid test for anyone who:
• has a family member with thyroid disease,
• has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome
• is a woman in or near menopause,
• has recently given birth,
• has other pituitary or endocrine disease, or
• is experiencing symptoms of thyroid disease.

2. Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy

Vital to healthy bones. Deficiency can be related to prostate, breast and colon cancers; heart disease, type 1 diabetes and hypertension.

Recent studies in North America and Europe indicate that a staggering 95 percent of people are vitamin D deficient — not surprising given how much time we spend inside.

Sunlight doesn’t just help set your internal clock, it actually nourishes your body by helping it create vitamin D. Classified as a water-soluble vitamin, vitamin D acts more like a hormone, working with the parathyroid hormone to balance calcium in the blood and build strong bones. It also maintains healthy cellular growth and regulates the immune system, which prevents excessive inflammation that can lead to autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, periodontal disease, multiple sclerosis and irritable-bowel diseases.

3. Iron Panel

An iron panel from HealthCheckUSA is a blood screening for the iron overload disease, hemochromatosis. This genetic disorder causes your body to absorb and store too much iron. This extra iron builds up and causes organ damange. An iron profile is important because if hemochromatosis is not treated, these organs can fail. You could even need a transplant.

How does iron work in the body?
A normal person’s body absorbs enough iron through a regular diet. Iron is an essential nutrient, which becomes part of your blood that transports oxygen throughout the body. If your iron profile shows that you have hemochromatosis, your body absorbs more than it needs. There is no natural function to expel this excess iron, and it is typically stored in body tissues.
