Thyroid Test Panel
Thyroid Test Panel
A thyroid test panel is a group of tests that give you and your doctor all the basics needed to diagnose thyroid disorders. These thyroid tests measure the amount of thyroid hormones in your blood.
TSH is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland and helps to maintain stable amounts of the thyroid hormones T4 and T3 in the blood. When concentrations decrease in the blood, the pituitary is stimulated to release TSH. The TSH in turn stimulates the production and release of T4 and T3 by the thyroid gland. If a person has a thyroid disease or imbalance, however, frequent thyroid tests are required to monitor and diagnose hormone levels.
The thyroid test panel includes the tests for T3 Thyroid Hormone Uptake, T4 Thyroid Hormone Totals, T7 Thyroid Hormone, and TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone).

When Should You Suspect Your Thyroid?
Your thyroid gland regulates all cells in your body and the rate at which they should function. Too little hormone, called hypothyroidism, puts you into a dragging slowdown. This is a problem for more than 10 million Americans – of whom 8 million don’t know it. Too much hormone, called hyperthyroidism, increases your momentum. This problem affects some 4.5 million Americans, but at least 600,000 of them have yet to be diagnosed.
